My name is Rusty!

Hi! I'm Rusty! I was rescued in Fresno, CA.

I’m a shy, sweet, calm and affectionate kitty who likes to take things slow. Living on the streets taught me to be very cautious so I need extra time to adjust to new environments.

I was very nervous when I first arrived in my foster home so I found a safe space where I could decompress. Lucky for me there’s a kitty cave here, they’re my favorite, but even a corner with a cozy blanket in a quiet room does the trick. It can take me several days to build up the courage to leave my safe space to explore a bit but I’ll always return to my space afterwards until I’m feeling more confident.

I love humans and really want to create an unbreakable bond with my human but I do need some help to get there. Slow and gentle pets really help me feel more at ease and some tender encouragement from you really helps a lot too. You can pick me up and put me on your lap for pets and I'll expression my appreciation with purrs. You can slowly wave a wand toy and although I won't leap across the room to get it, it will peak my interest and with time I'll slowly open up to playing too. Little by little I’ll open up more and more and reveal just how pawsome I am.

I do get along well with other kitties and having a calm and more confident kitty around to mentor me would be great!

I’m looking for a calm and quiet home with a cat savvy family who will be patient with me and help me build up my confidence. I’m a very sweet kitty who just needs extra time and extra love. Will you give a shy kitty like me a chance?
