My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dog's Name: Duke

Gender: Male

Current Age: 1 year

Current Weight: 50 lbs

Expected Adult Size: Medium (25-50 lbs)

Breed: Germain Shepherd

Energy Level: Low-Medium

Dog Friendliness: Duke would prefer to be an only dog.  Duke is nervous around dogs at first but warms up nicely. He plays gently but still has puppy spurts of energy.

Cat Friendliness: Unknown

Kid Friendliness: Yes to kids 8 years old or older

Good fit for an apartment? Yes

Physical Fence: Privacy fence required, 6ft preferable

Crate Trained: Yes

Potty Trained: Yes

Ideal Home / Adopte: Duke is very loyal and is a very easy dog. He adjusts to all situations fairly easily although needs slow introductions with dogs. He can be left uncrated without incident and will do crate, although not his preferred scenario. He loves to follow his human around like a shadow. He is very expressive and will let you know how he feels with his dramatic brown eyes and adorable floppy ears that perk up when you speak. He is vocal when he wants attention but not overly barky. He's a great pup.

Likes: Duke loves to chew. It may be the puppy in him but bones make him happy.

Dislikes: He is nervous in car and walking but with treats, he will follow you anywhere.

Duke is very smart and knows basic skills-sit, shake, and down. He is very adapt to learning new things so he would do great with someone who wants to teach him. He is very gentle, medium energy, and has a sweet spirit and captivating expressions. He literally shows you what he is thinking through his eyes and adorable head tilts. He is vocal when he wants your attention but very soft when speaking. He does well on a leash but is nervous when encountering dogs. More walks will benefit him greatly.

What makes this dog special? He is a bouncy, beautiful boy that is happy all the time. He has the most expressive eyes and what his eyes don't tell you, his ears will. When he is excited, he's ears go straight up. When he is nervous they drop. He almost speaks to you every new experience he has. He makes cute noises when he wants your attention and will be a super protective pup (true German Shepherd). He is very easy to train and such an easy pup. When you meet him, you will fall in love.

Duke's adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in Duke, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved.

More about this rescue

RESCUEDohio was founded on August 1, 2015 by a group of dedicated animal lovers in the central Ohio area. The founders came from various different vocational backgrounds, but all have one thing in common: the passion to save dogs. Before starting RESCUEDohio, they were previously involved in different aspects of rescue, including fostering, fundraising, coordinating and training. The mission of this group is to help find homes for unwanted and abandoned dogs and to advocate for the rights of all animals everywhere.
