My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hazel, a soulful sweetheart whose eyes tell a story of longing for love. This gentle Pitbull mix, around 3 years old and 45 lbs, has faced disappointment after being returned from what seemed like a promising home. She connected well with the family and enjoyed exploring the yard, but sadly, the introduction with the resident female dog didn't go smoothly, as there was tension between the two canine ladies.

Hazel's heart is pure and gentle. She's never shown aggression towards humans, cherishing every moment of affection on the couch and being remarkably patient with a toddler. Her playful spirit and ability to leap a 4ft fence highlight her agility, though her excitement sometimes results in a clumsy bump or two around the house.

Despite her setbacks, Hazel's love for life shines through during playtime. Whether chasing balls or engaging in tug-of-war, she exudes enthusiasm and a longing for companionship. Yet, deep down, she yearns for a home where she can be the sole focus or where introductions to other pets are taken slowly and with care.

Hazel waits patiently for the perfect match, someone who will see beyond her brief history and offer the stable, loving environment she truly deserves. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this resilient companion, please apply for adoption at [Peace4Paws Adoption Application](https://peace4paws.org/adoption-application). Together, let's rewrite Hazel's story with the warmth and security she craves.

More about this rescue

Peace4paws is a 501 (c) 3 non profit public charity centered in Northern New Jersey. Through our foster home system, we are able to support the rehoming and adoption of dogs from kill shelters as well as facilities of research and related fields. Founded in 2007, our initial mission focused on supporting sanctuary and forever homes for animals retired from use in research and related fields. In the past few years we have broadened our scope of rescue. We continue to help our own retired research animals and independent sanctuaries but also save shelter dogs. We are able to do this work through the efforts of our volunteer network and generous donors. Please see our website or facebook page "Peace4Paws" to meet our adoptable dogs, success stories or volunteer opportunities. We organize fundraising events centered around yoga, music, health, or animal friendly activities. We are also involved with student outreach and education. We would love to work with you.
