My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Flapjack aka Flappy or Flap Flap. My original owner lost his home, and I could no go with him to his new home so a family member said they would take me in. Unfortunately, they had a 12 year old dog that did not want to put up with a puppy and he came after me and caused some injury. That is where my foster mom stepped in and said she would take me. She took me to the vet and got me all healed up from my wounds, got me all my shots and neutered. I love to play and chew on benebones. I love to chase the ball when it is thrown but haven't quite learned "drop it yet. Sometimes I think the leash is a game but that is a work in progress. I am friendly to everyone and love other dogs. I am crate trained and poddy trained. I do not make a peep in my crate all night until foster mom comes to let me out for my "morning business before breakfast. I love to learn, am eager to please, and very food/treat motivated. Foster mom says I could be a counter surfer (who knows what that means woof woof) as I have put my paws up on the counter "sniffing. I will bark if someone knocks or rings the doorbell but am ready to meet and love them once they come into the house.

I live with two other dogs in foster mom's house and get along great with one of them - we play and run around the yard but the other one doesn't really like my energy so foster mom keeps us separate and does crate and rotate with us. I eat out of a slow feeder and in my crate. I walk to the back door to let her know it is time for me to outside and go poddy. I am on a fish based food and love it. I need a strong personality owner to be my person. I thrive on structure, learning and boundaries. I need these things so I can live my best life. I am looking for my furever home so I can be a real part of a family and not have to do this crate and rotate stuff anymore. I think I would do best with older kids since I am still a puppy with lots of energy. Could you be my furever home? Apply to meet me, I won't disappoint you I pawmise (promise in dog love language).

Flapjack is participating in The Love Pit's iRehome program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster. All behavior and medical information is provided by their caretaker, and TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with their caretaker prior to adoption.

Additional adoption info

Adopting from The Love Pit means gaining a family member. It means gaining a network of pit bull advocates, ready to support you and provide you with all of the resources we can. Most importantly, adopting from The Love Pit saves lives. When you adopt, you're saving the life of your own dog, opening space in their foster home for another shelter dog in need, and creating space in the shelter kennel for a dog whose life would have otherwise been on the line. Your thanks for all the good you've done? Lots of love and pit bull kisses to enjoy for years to come.

Go meet their pets

We have monthly adoption events at different locations in Dallas and Fort Worth which are announced on our social media pages and will also be posted on our website.

We will also set up an appointment with you to meet the dog of your choosing.
