Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Are you looking for a fun, smart, loving best friend? Abby is all that and more! She knows lots of commands and loves to learn new things. She is a graceful athlete and hasn’t met a piece of agility equipment she can’t handle. Abby runs fast, jumps high, and climbs like a goat!
Don’t let her smarts and strength fool you, though, she is also a champion snuggler! Abby doesn’t need to be the center of attention, but she always wants to be part of the action (prepare to share the sofa & the bed). Belly rubs are the fastest way to her heart! She loves to play, especially with tug ropes and squeaky toys, preferably along with her people.
She is house-trained, sleeps through the night, and stays calm during the day while her people are away. Abby is great on walks & car rides, a good travel companion who enjoys exploring new places. She loooooves humans but has had mixed reactions to dogs and cats, so she may do best as an only pup. She’s good with older kids (9+) and may be a little too excitable for younger ones or a busy household. With the perfect blend of energy and affection, Abby's ideal home would provide lots of activity and opportunities to learn as well as naps and cuddles. To learn more about Abby, apply to meet her and get a butt-wiggle greeting as a bonus!

More about this rescue
Animal Justice League (AJL) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt dog and cat rescue organization with a focus on the Oak Forest and Garden Oaks neighborhoods of Houston, TX. AJL was formed on January 27, 2015, but really, the work began long before then!
In a neighborhood that often serves as a dumping ground for unwanted animals, in a city that is overridden with homeless pets, and shelters that are at capacity, we saw a need and knew it was time to make a difference.
We rescue dogs off of the brutal streets of Houston, help care for those that are no longer wanted or cared for by their previous owners, and are registered to pull dogs and cats from the city, county, and nearby shelters. We also help reduce the community cat and kitten population through a robust TNR (trap, neuter, return) program.
Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through rescue, education, and outreach. Help us make our mission a reality!
