My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Marty is a fun loving, leggy, party-boy ready to howl at the moon or snuggle under the stars. This little guy came into rescue from a local shelter where he was surrendered with broken toes. He never let his injury slow him down and regularly asked to be picked up and hugged. Now that he has healed, he plants those feet on the ground a bit better but still loves the hugs. He hasn’t completely forgotten the days of his injury and although healed, he will show you his paw or a little more care in how he moves about with that foot. Marty adores play time with others and a puppy loving friend is required to chase, chew, and howl alongside. Marty can sing with the best of them and isn’t afraid to show those vocal skills. He is crate trained with treats for “bed” but does much better with a playmate through the day so the kennel isn’t so lonely. He mastered the dog door immediately and has no accidents through the night using a puppy pen or kennel. In his foster home he has had no accidents for weeks now without prompting to go outside. Marty has a great appetite but respects others’ dishes and allows petting while eating and removal of prized toys with no concern. On occasion he would like to relax and gives a little vocal complaint about being moved when he would rather snuggle. He isn’t opposed to a good day with water and has jumped into the bathtub to see his humans. He will likely be a Medium dog and has experienced dogs of all sizes and ages with a 7lb bestie in his foster home. He would love for the cats to play with him like the pups do but he can respect they like space and even stopped singing his mournful request and just watches them walk around the room. He does best on a harness and loves going for walks. We could look at those sweet eyes every minute of the day but this little boy is ready to find his forever family for adventures and memories. Included in each adoption: age appropriate shots, microchip, and spay/neuter surgery. Prior to meeting or adopting any of our wonderful animals, we ask that you please fill out our online application: https://form.jotform.com/223268341300041 We are a 100% volunteer organization and have to work other jobs to pay the bills. Please give us up to 48 hours to respond. Submission of an adoption application does not obligate you to adopt nor does it guarantee approval. We look forward to hearing from you.June 30, 2024, 7:49 pm

More about this rescue

Rosalie and Friends was created out of the President's dedication to help the under dogs and cats. She has taken in and rehabilitated the sick and injured for years. Late 2022 a well respected animal 501c3, Friends of the Escambia County Animal Shelter, dissolved and turned the organization over to Rosalie and Friends. We have assumed responsibility of several programs from them, to include sponsorship for heartworm treatment of animals adopted through the shelter. We also provide medical assistance for shelter animals and have a fospice program to get senior pets from the shelter and into loving homes through end of life. Our logo is "Fospice and fixer uppers" but that has not stopped us from helping others that cross our paths.
