Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Our sweet Rip came to us back in 2019, was adopted shortly thereafter and is sadly back and looking for his forever home once again. Now at 5 years old, it was discovered that Rip is diabetic. Unfortunately his former owners felt they weren't able to provide for his ongoing care and he was returned to the shelter.
While diabetes may seem like a daunting thing to manage, a new development in veterinary medicine has enabled us to properly manage Rip's diabetes with a once daily oral tablet. Even better yet, he actually takes his medication in a pill pocket. This is truly such an ideal solution for both Rip and anyone who might be interested in adopting him.
Outside of him being diabetic, Rip is an incredibly affectionate cat who gets along well with other cats and dogs. Though his favorite is his people. Which I'm sure his doting foster mom can attest to. Rip is truly the definition of a lap cat, and while he's loving occupying his foster mom's lap for the time being, he would just love a permanent place to rest his head. For anyone interested in applying to adopt this extraordinarily well rounded boy, please visit us at rbari.org/cats. Primary Color: Brown Tabby Secondary Color: White Weight: 8.2 Age: 5yrs 6mths 2wks

More about this shelter
Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.
To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
