My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***Zeal and Mickey are a bonded pair that will only be adopted together.***

Introducing Zeal! Zeal is a beautiful 8 yr. old short-haired purebred German Shepherd who weighs 85 lbs.

Zeal is very majestic. Her Guardian reports that Zeal is a deep loving soul. She is loyal, intelligent - she responds to commands, sweet, entertaining, curious, sometimes vocal, dog and children friendly - perfect around infants. Zeal is active, super chilled and calm. She is sensitive to storms and fireworks.

Zeal likes playing with other dog but takes longer to warm up and play with them. Otherwise, she's a very neutral dog. Zeal also likes to play fetch off leash and chase lizards. Her current activity level lasts 30 minutes to 1 hour a day. She walks nicely on and off leash. Likes to have a chew bone to pass the time and won't destroy anything, including toys.

Zeal enjoys her owners being around as much as possible. Like Mickey, she provides a service dog type of companionship. Her house manners are perfect. She's an indoor/outdoor dog who has always had doggy door access.

Zeal tolerates grooming - she prefers gentle brushing and handling of her body and lets you trim her nails.

Zeal had blood work performed in August 2023 and the lab results came back great. She is in good health.

Zeal and Mickey are litter mates and a bonded pair that will only be adopted together (the adoption fee for the pair is $300). They are in need of a new forever home due to their human owner passing away. Their current Guardian has known Zeal and Mikey since they were 2 years old so a lot is known about them. They currently reside in Tucson and can be transported to Phoenix or Prescott for Meet and Greet appointments to approved applicants. A home visit/inspection is required as part of the adoption agreement.

Our adoption fee helps cover expenses (vaccinations, microchips, spay/neuter, food, housing) for the homeless pets we rescue. UAF does not adopt or ship outside the state of Arizona. To ensure the best fit, UAF conducts a home visit to meet other pets and verify a safe, secure yard.

If you have any questions or to adopt a dog an application must submitted. Filling out this form does not obligate you to adopt, but gives us the information needed to make sure the pet is suited to your home.

HOW TO APPLY: From Petfinder.com The fastest way to get to the adoptable dog page is to copy and then paste this link into your browser: https://unitedanimalfriends.org/adoptable-dogs/

When you are on the UAF website Select "Adoptable Dogs" and pick the dog you are interested in. To apply to adopt, go into the dog's profile, and click the gray "Apply for Adoption" button to get started.

More about this rescue

United Animal Friends (UAF) is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit group founded in 2003. Our mission is to provide rescue programs and services to animals and those who care for them. In addition to rescuing, spaying and neutering, fostering, and finding homes for dogs and cats, UAF provides many services for residents of Yavapai County and their pets. Our Spay/Neuter Certificate Program, Community Pet Food Bank and Emergency Medical Program help hundreds of people and pets each year.
