Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
** Roo currently in a foster home, and is available for adoption! Email applications@chicagocaninerescue.org to set up a meet + greet!**
Greetings, everyone! My name is Roo, and I may be 15 years young, but I`ve still got plenty of pep in my step and love in my heart. I`m here to prove that age is just a number, and I`m ready to find my perfect retirement home where I can spend my golden years surrounded by love and comfort.
I may be a senior, but that doesn`t mean I`ve lost my zest for life. I enjoy leisurely walks where I can explore and sniff to my heart`s content. I also love hanging out with other pups and sniffing everything I can! One thing is guaranteed, I`ll be indulging in a good nap or two.
I do have some special needs—I`m on a prescription kidney diet to keep me healthy, and I have issues with urinary incontinence that require a bit of extra care. But don`t let that deter you! With the right family who understands my needs and is willing to give me the love and attention I deserve, I`ll thrive and bring so much joy into your life.
I have a gentle and loving personality that shines through in every tail wag and affectionate nuzzle. I get along well with other pets and adore human companionship. I`m a loyal friend who`s always there to brighten your day with my wagging tail, silly trot and soulful eyes.
If you`re looking for a mature companion who`s full of love, wisdom, and a lifetime of experiences, then look no further than me, Roo!

More about this shelter
CCRF was founded in 2001 to help find permanent, loving homes for homeless dogs in our city. In just over seven years, CCRF has saved the lives of over 2,000 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies.
CCRF now assists the animals that are the MOST vulnerable in Midwest - the dogs and cats that are slated for euthanasia because they are too old, too young, injured, have disabilities, or have simply been overlooked for too long by potential adopters at other shelters.
