My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello World!

I’m Fabulous Finley, a darling bichon puppy who is six months old and as cute as I can be! My foster Mom says I am the most affectionate little guy you could ever hope to meet. I like to meet new people (I’m admittedly a lover!) and especially love other dogs. Give me an opportunity to play (more on that in a minute) and I’m your guy!

I’m a smart little guy, almost housebroken and eager to learn what is expected of me. There are so many things that I do well already and, like most puppies, each day there are new things to experience. Did I mention that I’m smart, too? Let me tell you how I learned about those things called “stairs”. Well I had (obviously) never seen them before and I was a bit distraught when my doggy foster siblings went up the stairs and left me behind! Initially I figured out how to go UP the stairs—however it took him a while to learn how to go DOWN them. But I figured out a shortcut—sliding down the stairs on my tummy! It got the job done for a while until I learned I could go both UP and DOWN the stairs!

Now, back to toys. Did I mention that I love all toys-- but I have a hard time deciding which one to play with first? Mom says my answer to that is that I try to play with all of them at the same time, going from toy to toy. They sometimes migrate outside to the yard because I want to keep my toys with me wherever I am! I also love laying on my back and flinging my toys around, until I accidentally launch one in the air and it lands out of reach.

I love walks and car rides and am not a barker. While I’m Mr. Social Butterfly at home, I’m a bit shy at the dog park but getting better each day. I am basically just a happy, playful, mischievous, friendly and cuddly puppy. I love chasing other pups and being chased by them. I guess you could say I’m “all puppy!”

My Ideal Home:
*Someone home most of the time
*Another YOUNG dog around my age and size
*Another active, playful dog
*Adults or a family
*Kids over 7

Experience level:
*Have had dogs as an adult
*Recent/current dog experience a plus
*Experience raising a puppy a plus plus!

Oh, and one last thingl I love give and receive affection. Sometimes I will come up to Mom and lay my head on her knee. After a quick head massage, I then go back to playing with my toys. When I’m sleepy, sometimes I like to be held. When Mom is holding me, I look up, put my head on her chest, and close my eyes for a nap. And when I’m sleeping and I have a good dream I make these cute little squeaky noises! So if you are looking for a sweetheart of a bichon, who is cute, friendly, playful and very loving then look no further. Just complete our application-- and let’s get together.

See you soon.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Our Adoption Procedure: We require a written application at www.bichonfurkids.org

2.

Approve Application

All applications are screened and responded to by an Applications Coordinator.

3.

Home Check

We require a home/yard safety check which is done with a checklist and photos due to COVID restrictions.

4.

Approve Application

Once approved, our Placement Volunteers get in touch then forward applications that appear to be a good fit to the foster parents

5.

Meet the Pet

They then contact adopters to schedule a virtual adoption visit prior to an adoption visit held outdoors in keeping with COVID requirements

Additional adoption info

Prospective adopters must complete an online application available on our web site. A volunteer then conducts a telephone interview to review the application, followed by requesting a home and yard safety check. Once that has been completed - and if the prospective adopter is approved -the Placement staff will talk with the approved adopter to provide information regarding pups in our foster program that may represent a fit. That will be followed by the foster Moms and Dads contacting the approved adopter to answer questions and schedule an adoption visit at the foster home.

We require an adoption contract for each furkid plus the adoption donation. The fee for pups over one year of age
is $400.00 and is tax-deductible. The adoption fee for our puppies is $500. Our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated when adopted and come with an 'adoption kit' which includes a bed, blanket, pillow, leash, collar, vitamins, toy and treats.

Donations beyond our adoption fee are also appreciated so that we can rescue and save more lives.

Go meet their pets

Our pets are all cared for in loving foster homes. While in foster care, the foster family ensures that they receive lots of tender loving care, have any medical needs addressed, get lots of exercise and training. This gives the foster family an opportunity to learn about each pup's personality so we can develop a bio that describes the furkid. In turn that knowledge enables us to better assist you in selecting a dog that will be the best fit for you and your family.
