Ho, ho, ho! Meet Santa! Lovingly nicknamed Mr. Claus, Santa is a 2 year old husky/malamute mix who we know will bring you the same joy you feel on Christmas morning, every single day. As of September 6, Santa has been in foster care for 103 days. He is eager and ready to find his forever home.
Here are some presents Santa will bring to your home and family if you adopt him: he is house and crate trained, and he is relatively quiet. He already knows quite a few tricks, including sit, lay down, and shake a paw. Plus, you can’t forget the present of his presence! Santa’s goofy personality will keep you smiling.
Santa is known to be an avid counter-surfer, so will need a family who is willing to keep their counters clutter free while they continue working on his training for this behaviour. He has demonstrated a prey drive when he see rabbits, birds, and cats outside, so a household without a feline friend will be most suitable.
Here is what Santa wants you to know about him:
I am a very social boy who adores both dogs and people. I would love (and require) a sibling to play with in my new home, as well as a family who will create lots of opportunities for me to socialize and expel energy! I really love people, and will jump up to give you kisses when I first meet you. A family who can work on teaching me manners would be best, as I’ve been told that not everybody likes that, and I sometimes forget my size! I also really want to be a lap dog, and am a big fan of cuddling, so I will be happy to join you on the couch for nightly cuddles!
And walking? Well that’s just the best thing ever, isn’t it? I walk well on a gentle leader and am still learning leash skills. As I am a retired sled dog, I am very strong and do want to pull quite a bit, so it will be important that you use the gentle leader harness and not a regular harness, otherwise I will think I am working again! I have tons of energy and I would be a fantastic running buddy if you’re into that!
The best gift of all is that I am very trainable! I’m so eager to please, I will do absolutely anything for treats and attention. I like to mimic the behaviour of my foster siblings, so I’m sure that a well-adjusted sibling would help to train me into the best boy I can possibly be. In my time in foster care, I have discovered the joy of toys! These can be a huge motivator (and distraction) for me! I’m ready and willing to learn if you're ready to have me!
Santa is neutered, dewormed, and up to date on all relevant vaccines
