Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Deca came to us from the San Diego Humane Society on June 14. She is a youthful 8 years old and weighs 10 lbs. If you're looking for a lovable companion who will be equally happy to go on outings or relax at home, Deca might be your perfect match!
Deca went on two-week Frosted Fling and is such a joy to have around that she now has a Foster home until she finds her forever family!
Her Foster Mom reports:
"Deca is a very sweet, social, and friendly girl. She is not a fan of being held but will sit next to you or walk right up for pets. She LOVES belly rubs and will plop down, roll over and wait!
Deca is active for a senior and loves her walks. I tried fetch with a little ball, but she was not into it. We recently took a walk at a park where a child was practicing soccer, and she seemed very interested, so I will need to get a foam mini-soccer ball for her.
While Deca can live in a home with dogs and cats, but she may be best suited with a family with less pets than we have. She loves her people and wants to be near you. I have two new kittens, and I keep Deca close to me as the kittens like to play and engage with her. She appears irritated by them, and I think the kittens may be a stressor. So, I keep Deca crated while I'm away.
Deca doesn't mind her crate and appears very comfortable and happy in her crate. She will go in on her own with a little coaxing. She enjoys no-hide rawhide sticks for an enrichment activity, and she has a lamp chop stuffie that she uses as a pillow in her crate.
Deca behaves wonderfully during bath time, and I think she even enjoys it! You might notice in pictures that her right eye is a bit cloudy due to a corneal edema, and she is scheduled for an eye enucleation in mid-October. She is currently treated with an eye ointment and liquid pain meds that she takes without an issue.
Deca loves mealtime, and she eats in her crate because she enjoys eating others' food. She especially likes cheese, eggs and chicken, and she will also eat peaches and nectarines. She LOVES tagging along when I go for coffee and getting a pup cup! Deca is very good in the car.
Deca is a social butterfly and great with everyone, including kids. She is the perfect balance of active and mellow - great for any household activity level!"
