Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ollie checking in! This little guy had his vetting updated recently and we have been trying to figure out what behavioral concerns he may have after he was returned several months ago. It appears he is a typical high energy, bossy chi who “play bites” and growls. (like many of them do). He and his brother from another mother slept, ate, and shared a crate in the temporary spot he was in when we sprung him back in December. He may guard his food and want to eat in peace now so something to be aware of. It might be advisable to feed him and give him treats separately if he is in a home with another dog. Because he wasn’t on a leash for a while he is working on remastering that as well. As you can see, he is good in the car and his favorite pastime is rounding up all the toys and trying to remove the squeakers. Chihuahuas were bred for companionship, pest control (rodents mostly) and to be watchdogs. They are vocal little dogs and will keep you on your toes. Ollie prefers dogs his size over large one, isn’t a big fan of the vet, and likes to be a lap dog. He could be an only dog as long as he gets plenty of exercise and stimulation. He can be in a group of dogs supervised but remember he is large and in charge. (In his mind). Ollie will try to be the boss so will need a patient, experienced person to be in charge and show him rules. If he doesn't like something he could try and bite. His foster is working on this. He hated the crate at first but now is starting to go in with positive reinforcement. He hates being brushed and will show his displeasure. He went to the groomers for a bath and was fine with them. Ollie needs a strong leader who will work with Ollie and give him what he needs. NO KIDS. Ollie is around two years old and under 15 pounds. Ollie is probably not a good apartment dog as he is vocal as stated above. Chihuahua experience is a plus. Ollie is high energy and can develop unwanted behavior if he doesn’t get enough exercise and stimulation. Ollie is completely vetted, neutered, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, fecal tested, and heartworm negative. He just received a 6-month Heartworm prevention injection also. (Proheart) Ollie came to us from the county shelter after his owner could no longer care for him. He is in Myrtle Beach, SC. $200.00 adoption donation. Approved application, home visit, and $200 adoption donation required.
