They just don't come any sweeter than this little classic pooch! Ophelia was found wandering the streets in Atlanta. She had mammary tumors and a perforated right eye. SCMR is honored to help this older sweetie. She's about 12 pounds and is 10+ years old but still very frisky.
We thought at first she was an apricot poodle mix until we got the results of a DNA test. She is 39% chihuahua, 29% pomeranian (hence her reddish color) and only 19% poodle with some other stuff.
The surgery to remove the ruined eye was very tough on her but she never complained. A lot of rocking in the rocking chair and tummy rubs helped. One mammary tumor was benign. The other was benign with 'atypia.' So the outlook is pretty good. She's been fully vetted including a badly needed dental.
And she's pretty well house trained...sometimes dribbles a tiny bit. But she will let you know when she needs to go out. She gets artificial tears 2-3 times a day in her remaining eye. And there is limited vision in that eye. Sometimes she tilts her head when looking at you. That's because she can only see clearly out of a spot in the lower part of her iris. But since she gets around very well, you would not really know she has any problem.
She gets along well with her foster brother and sisters and is the sweetest, most loving little thing you can imagine. Ophelia has a lot of love to give and needs a quiet environment. She would do fine as an only dog as well as being a buddy for a brother or sister.
Ophelia likes to be close to her person at all times whether it's lying at your feet while you sit on the sofa or following you to the bathroom. She's going to be there! She eats LIfe's Abundance food with Dr. Marty's Nature's Blend as a topper and a few mashed blueberries for fun.
Loving a senior dog is so rewarding. Ophelia is being loved in Chattanooga, TN, until her forever family comes for her.
