More about this shelter

The City of Hopewell Animal Shelter is run by the Animal Control Officers. We fall under the Hopewell Police Department and train accordingly to serve the animals and the public of Hopewell. Our shelter is currently a small scale shelter with 28 dog kennels and 14 cat cages.

Our shelter is often full. We work hard to find our animals that are not claimed by an owner a new home or an approved rescue.

Most of our animals at our facility are animals that were found running loose that no one came to look for. We do often get animals in from owner surrenders where the previous owners can no longer care for them. At times we also seize animals and they will eventually need forever homes or rescue.

Come on down to the City of Hopewell and meet the wonderful Animal Control Officers and the Shelter staff that care for the animals on a daily basis.
