Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Athena is a beautiful white Siberian Husky with a heart full of love and a spirit that shines brightly despite her past. Abandoned in the woods with 9 other dogs, Athena has proven to be incredibly resilient and caring. Although we don't believe she was the mother to the puppies found with her, she showed remarkable motherly instincts, nurturing and protecting them as her own.
Athena is the sweetest dog you could ever meet. She’s ready to find a loving home where she can receive the attention and care that she deserves. She is so smart and wants to please - she walks well on a leash, is learning basic commands and is being kennel trained. Her new family will need to be husky-savvy and understand the unique needs of this incredible breed.
What Athena Needs:
Attention and Training: Athena is currently attending a 3 week, in-home training course provided by her sponsor. Her new family will need to be committed to continuing this training course with her. She would do best in a home where she can be part of a "pack" even if its just humans. She is very social and should not be left home alone for hours at a time.
Husky Savvy Home: Athena needs a home with experience and understanding of husky behavior. She’ll thrive with owners who can meet her energy levels and provide the mental and physical stimulation she needs. She is being trained to "leave it" but does want to chase smaller animals.
Loving and Patient: A family that can offer her love, patience, and security will help Athena fully embrace her new life and leave her past behind. She finds security and companionship by sleeping with her foster family at night, and we hope her new home will allow her to continue this habit of comfort.
Typical Dog Behavior:
Selective with Dog Friends: Like many dogs, Athena is picky about her canine companions and does best with dogs her size. She’ll need proper introductions and a home that can manage her social interactions.
Prey Drive: Like most huskies, Athena has a prey drive that helped keep her alive while she was in the woods. We do not recommend a home with small animals or farm animals.
Ready to give Athena the loving home she deserves? Want a forever snuggle buddy? Adopt this sweet and gentle husky, and enjoy a lifetime of companionship, loyalty, and unforgettable moments.
The Fine Print:
- Athena will be ready for adoption the end of June, after her training has completed. If you're interested in adopting Athena, please complete an adoption application on our website: https://www.wahkiakumanimals.org/adopt-a-pet
- Athena is a full-bred Siberian Husky (DNA test confirmed). She is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
- We will be conducting meet & greets, interviews, reference checks and home visits before placing Athena for adoption. Please note this takes time, and we are all volunteers at this organization, so we appreciate your patience!
