My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

0722191 - Leo’s a spunky, energetic boy who thinks he’s a lap dog despite his size. He really loves being around his people and can sometimes come on a little strong because he’s so excited to see you and get your attention (jumping, trying to leap around in your lap, etc). Leo can be bribed into his crate with a couple treats and sleeps in it overnight or whenever his foster mom isn’t home, but he prefers to be laying around on the couch or floor. Leo gets along great with other dogs, but he does play rough so may overwhelm a quieter or low energy dog. He’s got a high food drive and can be fed treats that are quickly eaten right next to other dogs, but he doesn’t like when any dog or human comes up to him in the middle of him eating or drinking and will display some slight guarding tendencies if this happens. For this reason it’d be best if he wasn’t in a home with small children who may not give him the space he needs. It’s also recommended that his meals are fed in a separate room from other dogs. Leo enjoys being outside, whether that’s playing in the yard with other dogs, chasing a ball, tugging on a rope or going on a walk. He generally does well on walks, but there’s still room for improvement as he can pull a little and try to jump on people we walk by cause he wants to say hello. Leo‘s still working on potty training, but he has only been in his foster home a few weeks so we are positive he will soon catch on.  To adopt Leo please complete an application at www.sloppykisses.org/adoptions!

More about this rescue

Sloppy Kisses Animal Rescue is a volunteer-based organization that was founded in 2018 by a group of animal advocates in Colorado. It was formed to rescue as many stray and homeless animals as possible by partnering with shelters in areas that are inundated with stray and relinquished animals. Sloppy Kisses Animal Rescue works to transport the animals to Colorado, fosters them in temporary homes, provides for their medical needs, brings them up to date on vaccinations, spay/neuters them if they aren’t already, and adopts them to permanent homes. This is accomplished through working with a network of volunteers, foster caregivers, local veterinarians, animal trainers, and donations!

We also work with our local community to provide assistance with re-homing pets and providing resources such as behavioral and medial to people who are considering surrendering their pet in an effort to keep pets in their homes and out of the shelter system.
