My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

McQueen (27336) is a domestic longhair who was officiallly brought into our care in October 2023.

Mcqueen was found in our Art O'Brien Feral Cat Sanctuary in the fall of 2023. He quickly grew to be everyone's favorite out in our feral cat sanctuary for being the sweetest fluffball out there. After talking to one another, we realized we didn't know who he was! After an offical intake, it was discovered he is FIV+ and living outside was no longer the safest environment for him.
While it was a big change and a bit scary at first, his social skills improved and he is now back to being the biggest sweetheart! He LOVES ear scratches and is the biggest cuddle bug! Being FIV+, his immune system is weaker than a cat his age would be. This does not affect his lifespan at all and he is still a very healthy boy! Mcqueen is required to go into an indoor only home with either no other cats or only other FIV+ cats.

More about this shelter

Valley Animal Center houses thousands of dogs and cats annually until they are placed in loving homes. Majority of our shelter animals are rescued from local animal control agencies who have no more space for their animals. Even animals who have been abused, mistreated, abandoned, and injured are cared for and nurtured until a loving home is ready to adopt them.

We are easily accessible to the residents of the entire six-county region it serves. Even individuals from out of the area and out of state have come to Valley Animal Center to adopt animals from us and utilize our clinic services.

Our mission is to unite dogs and cat with loving people but it does not simply end at the adoption process. With our low-cost clinic, a membership-based dog park, and humane education resources found on our website, we want to ensure our community has easy access to resources that will help them along in their pet ownership journey.
