My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Due to state laws regarding out of state adoptions, we cannot adopt to families in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.*

Claude is a 4 year old mixed breed pup. He was found as a stray by our county Animal Control Officer. He is a sweet, lovable pup who gets along well with dogs, cats, and children. He previously had heartworms but he has already gotten heartworm treatment and is now heartworm negative. (This doesn't affect his life expectancy, we just want our adopters to know any history we know about our dogs.) Even though he's a husky mix, his heart is all husky. He loves to talk to you and loves adventure and attention. He's very silly and can often be found sitting on top of his dog house like snoopy!

Listed breed is an educated guess made by our veterinarian and is NOT a guarantee - this also means we have no way of knowing what a puppy's adult size will be.

This dog is currently being fostered in Mississippi and will be transported via Barton's Barkers transport services upon adoption. Their adoption fee is $500 and includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, a nose to tail vet check, microchip and transport costs. Second Chances lists dogs as being available in White River Junction, VT because we transport our dogs to the area every 3rd week after they have been adopted. All of our local shelters have a high euthanasia rate due to overpopulation so we created our rescue group to primarily adopt to the northern states to help keep as many dogs as we can from entering our kill shelters.

More about this rescue

We are a small volunteer non-profit 501c(3) rescue group located in Pontotoc, Mississippi serving to match New England adopters with their perfect family member. All of our rescues are in private foster homes where they are treated like family. We do not operate a physical shelter. We are happy to provide vet references and testimonials from previous New England adopters.

All of our local shelters have a high euthanasia rate due to overpopulation so we created our rescue group to primarily adopt to the northern states to help keep as many dogs as we can from entering our kill shelters.
