My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ginger’s Story

Ginger’s story is one of resilience. She is an all-around fantastic dog (house-trained, crate-trained, playful, and loyal) and prefers not to be around other dogs.

Seven years ago, Ginger was adopted by a family with kids. She gave them five years of love and loyalty. We don’t know the full story, but we know they rehomed her when they got a new puppy. For about the next two years, Ginger was with an elderly couple in Richmond who had recently developed health issues like dementia and back problems. Four months ago, Ginger needed to be rehomed again. Trish took her in, but Ginger didn’t get along with Trish’s resident dog. So we had to find her a new home within a couple of days. That’s when Ginger ended up with Rucha & Rutvik. They are first-time dog fosters who live in a rental apartment in busy Mountain View.

We don’t know much about Ginger’s past day-to-day life but we can tell that apartment living is new to her. Ginger is learning new skills like seeing new people and dogs every day, meeting new humans, going to restaurants, and eating all kinds of Indian food. This exposure is helping her tremendously. She is extremely food-motivated and takes corrections well. Ginger is trying her best and her dog reactivity is getting better every day.

Dogs have so little control over their lives yet they have so much love to give. They try so hard, they adapt so easily and seamlessly into their human lives. Imagine being shuffled around like a piece of furniture, never quite settling in anywhere. It takes its toll, but Ginger's spirit remains unbroken. The best of humans would crumble where this dog has survived and thrived. Her fosters have grown to cherish her deeply and will have a hard time letting her go. Yet they know that apartment life, with its constant stream of new faces and dogs, is not the sanctuary Ginger deserves.

Let's find Ginger her forever home where she will be loved and cherished for the rest of her days. To find out more please go online to CalPaws.org or send an email to cpk9rescue@gmail.com

Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00

Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm and microchip each dog as well as spay or neuter.

Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match.
