Macchiato came to us in May of 2022 from a hoarding situation after the owner passed away. He, his four littermates and four seniors had been spent months fending for themsleves. Once caught it was clear he and his siblings were legiitimately feral, never having had human touch. At approximately one year of age this presented daunting odds of a successful rehab into a "normal" dog and future home. He was petrified of people and would avoid us at all costs. Once decompressed we started the lengthy process of navigating trust and the introduction of people. He made amazing strides in being social, walking on leash and tried really hard to be brave. He went to foster for a few weeks and did great with them - even their cat!! We then took a leap of faith to see if he could bridge the gap and go public. WOW!!!! He has become our most solid dog. He is unphased by anything. He LOVES to be pet and prefers to lean on you for tummy rubs. If you stop petting he'll let you know it's not enough and no joke is our new volunteer dog. He is SOLID. It is expected that he will have some setback on transition. However, we are here to help you and he navigate that and set things up for success. He IS success. He defied the odds and has blossomed into a well balanced wonderful dog. He's still young (only 2) and looking for an amazing family to love his beauty, personality and lust for life.
Because of my Flight Risk I cannot be left unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures and my new family must be aware of open doors and windows. NO offleash activities in unfenced areas for life.
