Meet Sapphire!
She is still very new and just learning to love, trust and embrace the world around her. After spending weeks at large in between new and old developements she got the attention of a resident that reached out for help. She had been cornered by four coyotes on a residence fence. Gratefully the home owner's dogs alerted and the people scared all of them away, including her. She was aloof, rarely seen and fast when she was. While out scouting for information she appeared, a trap was set and she was safe that night. Sadly no one came to claim her and while at the shelter she remained withdrawn, shut down and reticent about interaction. We kept our promise to come back for her if needed and so her journey began.
At some point someone loved and spent time with her. Once she decompressed, started to open up and realized she was safe she showed us she knew Sit, Down and Shake. With the help of her buddy dogs she has learned that life is full of play and freedom from fear. She can still be shy, even in her normal setting, but continues to grow. She struggles with the real world and needs to continue gaining confidence through exposure in safe and controlled settings. Progress is happening slowly but surely. If you think you'd like to help her on this road please consider fostering. Her growth will improve with more one on one and dedicated time not just limited to the rescue. She will do best with a confident and outgoing dog. She will need time and patience to trust then grow. Not ready for a dog or permanent commitment? This could be an amazing opportunity with huge rewards. There is nothing like watching a terrified dog go from fear to freedom. If you are interested please reach out and we can discuss if it's a good fit.
Because of my Flight Risk I cannot be left unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures and my new family must be aware of open doors and windows. NO offleash activities in unfenced areas for life.
