The sweetest mama cat who is just a kitten herself. She was found abandoned with her four babies in a hospital parking lot in a commercial area. So close to a busy road and with no street skills, it's a wonder she survived the 3 days she was out there. Our rescue got the call about this mom and we knew we needed to act quickly. When we arrived on scene we actually witnessed her nearly get hit by two cars as she crossed the street. It was 2:00 AM and we knew at that time we weren't leaving without the entire family. When we parked our truck we got out and started calling for her. Fortunately we soon heard the bell on her collar.
We were able to get her into a carrier in short order. We then set up what we call a reverse kitten cave. This is a method we use to catch kittens that are young enough to still be nursing. We placed live traps around the mom's carrier and covered her with a blanket. It took a couple hours for the babies to finally come out. When they did they began playing and climbing all around in front of the carrier. One by one we were able to trap 3 KITTENS. Never saw the 4th kitten that had been reported to us by the employees. We have gone back several times and still there is no sign of the 4th kitten. We are very hopeful that someone else found the baby and rescued it. Mom and babies seem to be in good health. She has one tiger son and two Siamese type daughters. The kittens are understandably quite afraid but they should come around with some socialization. Openly accepting applications at this time.
It is our hope that someone is interested in adopting the mom. So often the mother cats are left behind while all their kittens are adopted. Mama cats are devoted and loving parents to their kittens and we feel they are some of the most deserving companion animals we know.
