Obi-o...oooooooh-oh! Obi (a/k/a Obi-Wan) is one of the kindest dogs you will ever meet. He is incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate. Obi gives hugs! He'll come up to you and either lays his head on your chest, leaning in, or, if you ask, he will put his legs on either side of you and lean in for a hug. The affection from this boy is heart-melting. He walks well on a leash, and is great about his potty habits as long as you give him enough time outside to do his business in the morning and evening, and in the middle of the day if you are home. He loves walks, and will even run with you if you want to pick up the pace. He is a good boy in his crate, and sleeps in it overnight with no problem. Obi can be a bit vocal - generally only when he's in the crate and everyone else is out and still active in the house, or when you take the other dogs out without him. He just doesn't want to be left out. His favorite place is hanging out with everyone, and he gets along with everyone, including humans, dogs, and he even leaves the cats alone most of the time.... It is recommended that he not be in a home with small kids, as he may accidentally knock them over. He doesn't jump up on people, but he is a leaner and does enthusiastically wag his back end in a happy dance.
When meeting strangers, he is sometimes scared at first, more typically with men, but he warms up quickly with most people. Even once familiar with you, certain actions, like raising a hand or quickly moving up into his face will cause him to duck in an evasive maneuver, as though someone in the past was unkind to him. This boy is just ready to be somebody's best buddy, and whoever adopts him is going to be so lucky. He truly is a fantastic dog.
The fast facts - Obi is estimated to be about 2 years old, and currently weighs 55 lbs. He could stand to gain a couple pounds. He is a pit bull mix with black fur that has a beautiful brown undertone, and a tuxedo chest - this boy gets unsolicited compliments when he is out and about. He has the cutest wide little feet. He dances for his food (see video), and is just so easy going. He has been fine being left unsupervised in the house while his foster family is home, not getting into anything he shouldn't, nor chewing anything he shouldn't. He's fine chilling at home, going out for hikes or whatever you are into. If you are looking for a companion dog, he's your guy. He is a joy to be around.
Obi will be avaliable for adoption on June 9, 2024 from Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA KL #16182. We are taking applications now.
