Lexie has been through a lot lately. After her previous owner passed away, she ended up in a shelter where stress took a toll on her. Now, she’s looking for a patient and understanding home that can give her the stability she deserves.

About Lexie

- Independent & Confident: Lexie knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to let you know. She may become reactive when overstimulated or when she doesn’t get her way, so she needs someone who can read her signals and give her space as needed.
- Best as a Solo Cat or with Non-Dominant Cats: She’ll thrive as an only pet, but can also do well with other non-dominant cats, as long as she has a slow introduction.
- Dog Friendly: She’s fine with dogs around, as she generally ignores them.
- Unique Bathroom Habits: Lexie prefers the bathtub as her litter box, making cleanup easy!
- Picky Eater with a Bacon Treat on Occasion: She enjoys her dry food and may indulge in a piece of bacon every now and then.
- Loves Chin Scratches & Bedtime Company: She’ll seek out attention when she’s ready, and likes to sleep nearby for that added sense of companionship.

Fees tend to range from $10 to $118 depending on the species, gender, and sometimes size of the adoptable pet. We also have adoption specials where designated pets are free with a monetary donation. Those are announced on our social channels.

If you are looking for a new pet, Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Services shelter has a wide variety of animals to adopt; from dogs and cats, rabbits and guinea pigs, to the occasional snake and pot-bellied pigs. The shelter also has two specially designed bonding areas for people to interact and play with the animals they are considering for adoption.
