My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Summer is currently in foster care and available to meet you via virtual meet and greet. To begin the process, please submit an adoption survey and the team will reach out via email with next steps (please check spam). If you are not sure if you're quite ready to adopt but are interested in Summer, she is also eligible for our two-week adoption trial period. This means you can take her home and see if she's the right fit for you and your family first. We'll provide all the support you need during the trial to ensure a smooth transition. Please contact fosternyc@bestfriends.org for any questions or to learn more about the trial adoption process!

Summer is a pretty 1-year-old female brown tabby. She has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed. Summer is a bit new to us and a little nervous at the start, so she will benefit from a gentle person willing to help her blossom. Once warmed up, she makes a wonderful companion. Summer would thrive in a loving home where she can receive plenty of patience and love as she settles in.
Summers foster parents are finding the greatest help to having Summer come out of her shell is their cat ! Summer has reacted very well to being with another cat and seems much happier and less fearful. She is slowly getting used to her foster parents , but is relaxed with the resident cat."Slowly but surely getting used to us. She still prefers to be in her closed off room, but will eat in front of us if she doesn't have to completely leave her cave/carrier/etc. A HUGE help to getting Summer out of her shell was having my cat around. Summer immediately wanted to go over to her within minutes of seeing my cat for the first time. While my cat isn't overly social with other cats, she's been modeling behavior by eating treats from my hand, etc. in front of Summer. This has made a huge leap in Summer's comfort around me.".
