My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Disclaimer: This dog is not in Anderson custody. and is a courtesy post to help a member of the community rehome directly without shelter intervention. Any adoption inquiries should be directed to the owner at sjgoodmill@gmail.com. Anderson Humane makes no guarantees regarding medical or behavioral status of this animal, and the current owner is solely responsible for disclosing any challenges or concerns.

Iris is very intelligent! She knows basic commands and paw. She even knows how to do agility! She is completely potty and crate trained. She actually enjoys laying in her crate when it is open. She will do anything for a yummy treat. She gets so excited by everyone she meets she does jump around and makes a silly squeal if she really likes you. Iris loves going for walks/ light runs and is a fan of long lead walking in his forest preserve. She even likes to swim! She lives with other dogs, cats, and small animals. She loves playing with other dogs, but prefers dogs who like to play but are laid back. Iris wants to be by your side 24/7. If she could, she loves napping on the couch and beds. Iris is equal parts energy and relax. She can keep up with activities but also loves to cuddle in the evening. She would love a family who can keep her busy and her mind stimulated!

More about this shelter

A one-of-a-kind animal welfare organization, Anderson Humane focuses on creating and supporting mutually beneficial relationships between people and animals. Current programming such as our Adoption Program, Military Veterans’ Program, and Healing Paws Pet Therapy Program create positive, impactful connections between people and animals, improving the lives of both. Future programs will be offered in partnership with human-service organizations throughout our community, maximizing impact and changing lives for the better.

Anderson Humane is a resource for pet owners, providing information and services to provide better care for their pets. Services such as our Low-Cost Vaccination, Dental, and Spay/Neuter Clinics offer affordable veterinary care options, preventing owners from having to give up their pets simply because they can’t afford care. On the horizon are additional programs to keep pets in homes, such as a pet food pantry, affordable pet training options, and temporary housing for pets when families are in crisis.
