Macy is a super-affectionate mom who, even as her 6-week old puppies developed teeth and claws, still patiently nursed them. She is a real snuggler, curling up close while you read or watch TV. She’s house-trained and waits patiently for her walks (easily makes it through the night). Sometimes needs to use a pee-pa. She's a good hiker and runner--happily going 3-4 miles in all conditions. She is used to cats and does OK with our 3 dog-savvy cats, but I would be cautious if you have cats. She’s food- and treat-motivated, making her relatively easy to train. For example, when she spies a squirrel, a simple “Wait” gets her to sit and accept a treat. She learns very fast: "shake paw" took just a couple of sessions with treats. She seems good with kids older than toddler--was calm at an adoption event with many other dogs, adults, and children.
Personality & Characteristics:
My foster dog is good with: Dogs, older children
My foster dog is: Crate Trained; House trained (uses a pee-pad when she needs to), Low Shed
3 Keywords for your pup: affectionate, eager, gentle
Energy Level: 6
Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Moderately quiet. Will bark from inside at dogs walking by and barks on walks when she sees a dog she'd like to meet
Walking Manners: Pretty good. Pulls a little and tends to weave as her attention changes. But stops and looks to you readily when she hears her name.
Appetite: Eats well.
Favorite Things: Walks-Hikes-Runs, cuddling (after the walks/hikes/runs), chew toys of all sorts from bones to Lambchop
Commands/Tricks: Come, sit, down, wait, paw, touch; working on recall
ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at WaldosRescue.org and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog. We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs.
Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States
