My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ADOPT FRANKIE!

Hi everybody my name is Frankie. I’m an 11 lb. Pomeranian mix, about 2 years old. I’m a very happy sweet boy who’s about as gentle and laid back as they come. I’m very good about going outside to do my business. I love to cuddle on your lap for naps during the day. At night I currently snuggle up next to my foster mom in the big person bed.

I get along very well with other dogs. But I’m also very content with just chilling out on my own. I’m a little guy so a small dog secure fence is probably best. I’ve already escaped through the pickets of my current fence. I can’t help it, I’m just curious I guess. I do occasionally like to do my zoomies in the yard as well. As far as kids, I haven’t really been around them at all, but I’m a small guy and usually very gentle. With my longer hair I will need to be groomed on a regular basis. I will say my first bath with my foster mom was a little scary for me, but I pretty much let her do what she needed to do. Then I pouted and ignored her for a bit.
I’ve stayed out of trouble, for the most part. I’m normally cuddled up on my dog bed while my foster mom makes dinner. And during dinner, it’s pretty much the same thing. As long as I’m near people I’m pretty content. I’m also learning about this world we’re in, and have not been exposed to a lot on a walk, so I do tend to get a little scared or curious when hearing a new noise.

I’d say I’m a mellow little munchkin who would make a great addition to any family.

I have been vet checked, neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, am up to date on routine shots including rabies and have been treated with flea & heartworm preventative. So I am ready to go to my forever loving home.
Frankie’s adoption fee is $525.

Who We Look For

In short, Heather’s Foster Dogs is looking for responsible, dedicated, and loving pet owners for our foster animals. This means a couple of things:

-You feel that pets are an important part of the family. They do not spend their days and nights living outside in the yard, chained to a doghouse or locked up in a kennel. Pets belong safe and warm in your home.
-You understand that regular veterinary visits with a licensed veterinarian are important to maintaining the health and well being of your pet. This means regular exams, administering medication when prescribed, and keeping your pet up-to-date on vaccinations.
-You believe in POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT training only and will seek the help of an experienced professional trainer if necessary or recommended.
-You understand that adding a pet to your family is a commitment that should last for the ENTIRE LIFE OF THAT PET.

To adopt a dog from Heather’s Foster Dogs, you must…

-Be at least 21 years of age
-Have a valid form of identification (a driver’s license or
state ID)
-Verify that you are allowed to have a dog of the breed
and size where you currently live
-Understand that a fenced yard may be required for a
dog you are interested in
-Understand that training may be required for the dog
you are interested in
-Understand that HFD reserves the right to check
veterinarian and personal references
-Bring along all household members including any
resident dogs or children to meet the dog you hope to
adopt

TO ALL POTENTIAL ADOPTERS: Heather’s Foster Dogs is dedicated to eliminating shelter overcrowding once and for all. We understand the only way to really achieve this goal is by cutting down on the number of unwanted animals born every year. As such, HFD tirelessly promotes spay/neuter for all companion animals, and in fact requires this as part of our adoption agreement. If you currently own an animal that is intact (meaning it is NOT spayed/neutered), and there is no medical reason as to why your pet has not been spayed/neutered, HFD cannot in good faith approve you to adopt one of our foster animals.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE THE FOLLOWING: Heather’s Foster Dogs does NOT ship animals. No matter where you live, no matter how far, you will be expected to meet with HFD in person for your adoption interview and pet pick up.

HFD reserves the right to refuse adoption to any applicant if we feel they are not the best fit for the animal they’ve applied to adopt.

And please, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Email Heather’s Foster Dogs at heathersfosterdogsinfo@gmail.com and we will be happy to speak with you further.

More about this rescue

Heather’s Foster Dogs strives to educate people through public interaction and to ease shelter populations by placing animals in temporary foster homes where we can address medical and behavioral problems while actively searching for permanent placement. Together, we seek to promote compassion and kindness to all animals, to increase awareness of companion animal overpopulation, and to advocate for responsible pet ownership.
