My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there, my name is Skye! I may be eight years old, but don't let my age fool you—I've still got plenty of pep in my step and a whole lot of love to give.

You see, I'm a playful girl at heart. Give me a toy, any toy, and I'm in heaven! Toys are like magic to me, they make everything brighter and more fun. Whether it's a squeaky ball or a fluffy stuffed animal, I'm all in for a game of fetch or a tug-of-war session.

But hey, I'm not just about playtime. I'm also a big fan of snuggles. There's nothing quite like curling up with my favorite humans for some quality cuddle time. I'll happily soak up all the affection you're willing to give.

Now, I have a little something extra to mention—I'm currently undergoing treatment for heartworm, but don't worry, I'm a trooper! I just need to take it easy and avoid getting too worked up until I'm all better. But once I'm back to full health, I'll be ready to bounce back into action with even more energy and enthusiasm.

So, if you're looking for a sweet, playful companion who's always up for some fun and plenty of love, then look no further. I'm Skye, and I can't wait to be part of your family!

*Just a heads up, the way I behave here at the shelter might not be exactly how I'll act in a home environment. Dog behavior can change once they find their forever family. These are just the observations from my time at the SPCA of SWMI.*

Additional adoption info

Adopting an animal is a long term commitment and is therefore a serious decision which should be given ample consideration. A furry companion is a delight, but make sure that you understand the obligation of ownership as well.

Do you know how much yearly vet visits cost - and food, and toys? The ASPCA estimates the annual cost of a large dog to be $780, and a cat is $575. Of course the monetary commitment fluctuates somewhat depending on an animal's size and specific medical needs, but we can guarantee that you will be spending a significant amount on him each year. Do you have time to exercise with your pet? Some dogs have more energy than others, but most would benefit from daily walks. Even cats are better off when their owners are able to set aside daily time for play. Make sure you can give a pet the attention he craves and deserves.
