Hi, friends! My name is Dottie, and I’m a 3-year-old Chihuahua, weighing in at eight pounds. I found my way to TAP via another local rescue and can’t wait to find my furever home!

My foster mama says that I’m an easy girl who’s sweet and loving once you’ve earned my trust. I love being near my person at all times of the day. My other favorite activities include going on walks, getting treats, and sleeping most of the day. While I don’t have any separation anxiety when left behind, I do need time to warm up to new people. Therefore, slow introductions are recommended. Other than that, I’m potty-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained, and I’ve already been spayed. My health is in great shape, too!

I’d prefer a mellow home, preferably with no kiddos. A doggie sibling (or two) would be fine, just as long as they are larger in size than me. However, I do have a strong prey drive towards small animals, so no kitties please!

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.
