Louie was surrendered to Humane Society of Wicomico County because of a negligent owner, who did not provide the proper training to a Belgian Malinois Shepherd mix, which resulted in Louie killing his neighbor's goats.
He is a smart, young beautiful dog, and very sweet with humans. A Belgian Malinois mix is a working breed that does best in a home that is active and willing to provide training, and guidance. Louie will require a strong leader and someone willing to work with him.
Louie is receiving training at the shelter and learning SIT and LEAVE IT. He is treat motivated.
Louie seems to want to pull towards other dogs, we are not sure yet if he is aggressive towards them or wants to play. There is a video of him approaching a dog in a yard in a playful, non-aggressive manner. He may be dog selective.
Louie would not do well around small children. Older children who understand how to play with a dog may be okay
He would do well with a fenced yard so he cannot have free range and go off property.
Louis is definitely stressed out in the shelter environment. Because our shelter is full, he is at risk of being euthanized to make space for others.
