My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Whole Grain Granola is the sweetest little lady I’ve had the pleasure to foster! She will sit near you and on you as much as you allow her, as my roommate likes to call her, she’s a velcro cat. She just wants to be near you and snuggling! She loves having her chin scratched and gentle pets on her body. She loves pate because she only has two or three little teeth. She has never bitten me or my roommate because she’s too sweet. She would love a forever home with a family who loves to cuddle and nuzzle her face all the time. She’s not a needy kitty, she’s just insanely loving.

This cat would prefer to be adopted alone and be the only cat in the home.

This cat is FIV+ and will live a normal healthy and long life when provided with quality care such as a balanced diet and yearly wellness exams (like any cat). As FIV+ is not transmittable between neutered/spayed cats under normal circumstances, we are happy for FIV+ cats to mingle with FIV- cats in their adoptive homes.

This cat has been diagnosed with a heart murmur and would benefit from an echocardiogram -- we would appreciate it if their potential adopter could help us cover this cost in lieu of an adoption donation.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
