My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a companion who is equal parts hilarious and full of energy? Meet Nanook, our 3-year-old Husky who's got a lot to say! This big guy (and we mean BIG, weighing in at a solid 76 pounds) has a name that means polar bear, and trust us, the name fits! Nanook has perfected the art of the Husky scream, that glorious sound that makes it seem like he's pondering the mysteries of the universe. He will talk back to you and always has to have the last word, making him the sassiest roommate you will ever have. If you are looking for a quiet dog, keep moving; Nanook has some important opinions to share, and he will make sure you hear them.
This adventurous spirit needs to be out and about, not lounging on the couch. Parkour? Daily escapades? Count Nanook in! He is ready to stretch those legs and take you on a whirlwind of outdoor fun. And when it comes to energy, Nanook is like a rebellious teenager who has had way too many energy drinks-full of mischief and ready to bulldoze his way into your heart. Nanook's boyish good looks will win you over every time, and he is a certified face-licking champion. He is not just looking for a home; he is looking for an audience for his antics. Just a heads up: no small animals, please.
This big, furry ball of energy is looking for an active home that can keep up with his lively lifestyle. True to his breed, Nanook is LOUD and has no concept of an indoor voice - you might even think he's screaming! He's got a thick, luxurious coat that comes with a lot of fur and a larger-than-life presence. Nanook thrives on activity and would love a family who enjoys outdoor adventures. While he sometimes forgets his manners, he makes up for it with his friendly nature and affectionate kisses. If you're ready for a playful, energetic, and vocal companion, Nanook is your guy! To meet Nanook, please call 843-249-4948 to schedule an appointment, or you can submit an adoption application at https://humanesocietynmb.org/dog-adoption-form/.

Additional adoption info

HSNMB does not hold animals and all adoptions are done on a first-come, first-served basis in person at the shelter. Once the adoption is completed and the fee is paid, you must take the animal with you at that time.

Please be sure to bring a photo ID and cash or a credit card for the adoption fee. The primary caregiver is required to be present to go through the adoption process. Any children 5 and under and, in some cases, any existing dogs living in the home will be required to be present and meet the animal prior to adopting. Meet and greets are not required for all animals, but may be deemed necessary by HSNMB staff for specific pets.

Adoption Fees:
Cats (over 6 months of age): $60
Kittens (under 6 months of age): $100
Dogs (over 6 months of age): $110
Puppies (under 6 months of age): $140
Seniors ages 60 and up qualify for discounted adoptions fees.
