Here's what the humans have to say about me:
On February 27th, Southern Paws inc. An animal rescue in NJ, pulled Helga out of the Mahwah cruelty case. She was skin and bones and so vicious I was afraid to touch her. She had been abused, neglected, starved, and lived most of her life in a 10x10 pen.
Since she was rescued, myself and another trainer have been working to rehabilitate her. She is doing amazing! She has mastered down and sit, and her heel and leash manners are coming along beautifully. We take her on field trips, and she has been doing wonderful with desensitization and exposure to new things. She is doing great with meeting people and is dog friendly.
Helga is available for adoption through Southern Paws. However, she needs an adopter who has extensive experience with German Shepherds and working breeds. She is very intelligent and has a high drive and is mouthy as all heck, but we are working on that. She is high energy so she would make a great running buddy. She is definitely not a couch potato lol.
She also needs someone who has patience and understands what she has been through and that until we rescued her she had been severely abused and neglected. She responds well to positive reinforcement and corrections and is on her way to becoming an amazing well rounded confident girl.
Although she doesn't seem to mind children, we feel a home without them would be best. She has done wonderfully oh pack walks and other large dogs. Due to drive we don't think she would do well with small dogs or cats.
As you can see by her photos, Helga has come a long way. She is my buddy and kisses my whole face when she sees me. I know the best home is out there somewhere willing to take a chance on her. She is such an awesome dog and deserves all life has to offer after all she has been through.
