My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sunny!

A spirited one-and-a-half-year-old mixed breed dog from Queens, NY, whose essence is a vibrant burst of joy wrapped in a luxuriously tan brindle and white mantle coat. Sunny is a medium-sized lady, full-grown at about 50 pounds, who is ready to fill your life with adventure and affection!

Sunny is the embodiment of playfulness and curiosity. She absolutely adores the great outdoors, where she can go on long walks, run around in a fenced yard, and indulge in her favorite pastime—chewing on a tasty bone! Her zest for life makes her a regular at daycare, where she delights in meeting and playing with new doggy friends.

Sunny’s intelligence shines through in her obedience training. She knows a range of commands such as sit, stay, lay down, come, off, and even belly when she’s feeling comfortable. Her training journey is ongoing, and she thrives with consistent practice and positive reinforcement.

Despite her many strengths, Sunny does have a few quirks. She experiences separation anxiety, which means she doesn’t do well when left alone for extended periods. With a bit of patience and the right routine, she manages short bouts of alone time, but she will benefit from a home where someone can be with her most of the day. Sunny can also be a bit wary of strangers and occasionally nervous during rainstorms, although she’s making great progress in this area.

Sunny is a social butterfly with other dogs but isn’t fond of cats. She’s house-trained, microchipped, spayed, and up-to-date on her vaccinations. Her playful, medium-energy disposition makes her an excellent companion for an active household!

The ideal home for Sunny would be one with a fenced yard or a spacious apartment near a park, where she can continue her daily exercise and play. A family without small children or other animals would be best, at least initially, as she adjusts to her new environment. Her new family should be experienced with canines and ready to continue her training with patience and consistency.

Sunny’s most endearing trait is the way she looks up at you when she wants attention or curls up next to you on the couch. She’s a constant companion, ready to offer loyalty and love to her new family. Are you the one to give Sunny the forever home she needs? Imagine the joy she will bring into your life!
