Darlene's joy is infectious. She has the wiggliest butt and toys give her life. She's a very active girl and does best when she walks a mile or two a day. She sleeps in bed with me and likes to cuddle at the end of the day. She lets me sleep, but as soon as I wake in the morning, she is ready to GO. She quickly grabs the nearest toy and comes to me, tail wagging. She is good in the crate when I'm gone. While I'm working from home, she likes to watch the neighborhood through the storm door or lay in her crate. If she sees or hears something interesting, she will alert the others. She hasn't had any accidents in the house and usually just waits until I let her out, but she is starting to gain more confidence by walking to the back door to let me know she has to go potty.
Forget-Me-Nots are small, sometimes missed, flowers that symbolize true love, loyalty, and remembrance. At the Maryland SPCA, we classify a pet as a Forget-Me-Not to highlight an animal that may have some extra considerations for potential adopters to be aware of. The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.
To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.
There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.
We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
