My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

For inquiries email jonna@compactcaninerescue.org Fee: $700 Location: Manassas, VA Things to consider when applying to adopt Shannea: Dachshund mix about 1 - 1.5 years old 19 pounds +/- Very energetic and loving Training/basic manners classes required to complete adoption A fence is required for adoption; she LOVES to run and play unhindered by a leash and she has a HIGH prey drive she will probably be best as an only or as a companion to a docile laidback dog She is spayed and UTD on vaccines provided Heartworm negative, on prevention Shannea is a sweet little Dachshund mix estimated to be about 1 year - 1.5 years old. She is very energetic. She LOVES to run and play in the yard. She could use some work learning to walk correctly on lead but is about to be walked. She is working on her potty manners as well. She is loving and sweet. She can be shy at first but warms up quickly. She has had a lot of changes in her life in the last month and is handling them with ease. She will make a wonderful pet. Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

After submission we check with the vet you referenced to obtain your pets medical history and the adopters compliance with recommendations

2.

Interview

Once you pass the vet. reference, we schedule an interview to find out more about you, the applicant, and the type of dog you want to adopt

3.

Home Check

If the phone interview is passed we then visit your home to see how one of our dogs reacts to the family, other pets and the environment.

4.

Approve Application

We have a committee to whom the applications are presented. They read over the entire packet and either approve or deny the app

5.

Meet the Pet

Once an adopter is approved they can call the foster parents and find out more about our dogs. If they match we set up a Meeting

6.

Sign Adoption Contract

If one of our dogs is a good fit, then at the meet an adoption can take place during the meet and greet

7.

Pay Fee

when contracts are signed, the fee is collected

More about this rescue

The founding members of our rescue are dog lovers. Especially, small dogs! When we saw the need to help so many small dogs of various breeds and mixes, we collaborated to form a non-breed-specific rescue to help as many small dogs as possible. Our mission is to help dogs who weigh up to 20 pounds.

Adoption is not first come first served. We match our dogs to potential owners to ensure the best outcomes for all involved! Our philosophy is: Rescue - Rehabilitate - Rejoice!

Our mission statement is as follows:
Compact Canine Rescue is a network of volunteers committed to rehabilitating small dogs and rehoming them with forever families on the east coast of the United States. We are passionate about promoting responsible pet parenting and educating the public on what makes dogs healthy and happy.
