This handsome (and cuddly! Not all cats are huggers, you know!) little guy is Francesco, and while no, he's not going to produce any famous Renaissance paintings for you like his namesake might, he is a biscuit-making artiste in his own right. Francesco is around 8ish years young, give or take, and he's been a trooper through so much already during his stay at the shelter- a couple kitty colds, a corrective surgery for his eyelids (no follow up eyelid care needed), and now ringworm. He would also love to go home with an understanding family who doesn't mind his FIV+ status.
Ringworm care can actually be a breeze with the right set-up and if you have the time to dedicate to it, but can be a bit tedious since it can spread easily to any living creature and requires some caution to prevent that. Ideally we would love to find a home without any really young kids or other pets, just to limit the risk of exposure, unless the home has enough space to keep everyone fully and safely separated. PAWS provides all of the medications and other treatments needed at our clinic, so please read through the info linked below and if you feel like your home would be a fit you can apply and reach out to us to learn more!
**FIV is specific to the feline species, and is not transmissible to dogs, humans, or any other animals. It is spread from cat to cat via mating or deep puncture bite wounds. Thankfully, all our cats are spayed or neutered so mating is no longer an option! Since FIV does not spread through casual contact like grooming, sneezing, and food/litter sharing, FIV+ cats can live with other cats that have tested negative as long as the cats get along without fighting.
Age: ~8.5 years
How I came to PAWS: found stray
Animal ID#: A56246
Location: PAWS' Grays Ferry clinic. This is not a walk-in facility, so please email adoptions@phillypaws.org to set up a time to meet this kitty!
**This pet is currently being treated for ringworm, a mild fungal infection of the skin that usually clears up within ~6-8 weeks of starting treatment. All the follow-up care we provide for your ringworm pet is free of charge at a PAWS facility while they finish their treatment with you, and we are with you every step of the way! You can learn more about adopting a pet with ringworm here.**
