Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Brussel Sprout aka Brussel is a youthful, energetic pittie, whose big, white head and big, grey eyes will bulldoze his way into your heart. Brussel was a rescued from a bad home life and spent many months at animal control. Despite this, his zest for life has no bounds. He is cautious of new things, people, and sounds. But with some encouragement, he quickly warms up.
Brussel is curious about new dogs, and we believe with proper introductions, he would be a great playmate. Brussel is cautious about new people, and generally warms up to them. He can get nervous about loud sounds or unexpected sounds, so he should be monitored around all kids and would do well with some training!
Brussel has quick bouts of energy after naps and eating, but is then great with snoozing for several hours throughout the day. He would be great for a family that enjoys leisurely walks with some play thrown in but also likes lazy days to cuddle on the couch. Brussel is a smart cookie and knows "sit" and "crate/house".
Brussel Sprouts will win you over with his joyous love that he gives you unconditionally. He will be a great companion to someone one day. Brussel Sprouts, despite his past, is excellent on leash. He doesn't pull, he walks with or right ahead of you. He is also great in the car and will spread out and snooze. Three words to describe Brussel? Playful, snuggly, and cautious!

More about this rescue
Players for Pits is a 501c3, non profit rescue that connects professional athletes to the community in order to come together to take a stand against the abuse and neglect of animals. PFP serves the western suburbs of Chicago and is a foster based rescue, so the dogs in our care are in foster homes learning the basics of being a well balanced dog versus being in cages at loud boarding facilities.
The athletes involved in our rescue actively support the rescue efforts and help by spreading the word of dogs in need. It is the mission of Players for Pits to educate dog owners about proper pet care - both physical and mental - so that the dogs in our care can be happy, well balanced members of society. It is our goal to rescue dogs from high kill shelters and place them into loving homes in the suburbs. At Players for Pits we stand up for pit bulls, who's character is routinely tarnished and often misrepresented. We recognize the pit bull for what it is: a DOG. And any dog with the right care and owners can be a wonderful pet. While we are an advocate for pit bulls, we do not discriminate based on breed and will take in other breeds if they need you help. Players for Pits is also very active in the community and we co-host clinics to help struggling families maintain their pets health, we train pit bull type dogs to become therapy dogs for children with abusive backgrounds, and we try to involve the community in our goal to reduce pet abandonment.
