My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dog's Name: Oli

Gender: Male

Current Age:10 months

Current Age Range: Young Adult (6 months to 1 year)

Current Weigh: 50

Expected Adult Size: Large (50-100 lbs)

Breed:Akita, Anatolian Shepherd, Elkhound Mix

Energy Level: Low-Medium

Dog Friendliness: Yes, and can have other dogs in the home or can be an only dog.

Cat Friendliness:Yes

Kid Friendliness: Yes, any age

Apartments: Yes

Physical Fence: Physical fence preferred but not required with regular walks/exercise

Crate Trained: Yes for short periods of time

Potty Trained: Yes

Ideal Home / Adopter: Ideal for a loving, relaxed, yet active home that enjoys sharing time and the outdoors together with their companion(s).

Likes: Loves walks, belly rubs, peanut butter, patio time, chewing on bones/sticks, sharing toys & playing with other dogs, learning how to fetch, and couch snugs.

Dislikes Because he was abandoned by his original family, this special boy lovingly prefers the company of another doggo or his human(s). He can also be a bit skittish if approached with a tad too much energy or aggression.

What makes this dog special? Oli (answers to original name "Bandit") is absolute perfection… it blows our mind that his family took their furniture when they moved, yet somehow left such a sweet soul behind. But this gentle “pocket Akita” holds no grudges for abandonment — just an incredible desire to love, play, chill, and be loved. He’s 50 lbs, likely 8-12 months old, excellent with dogs (he’s met 4 so far), kids (both big & little), house guests, public settings and even cats! He’s potty-trained, crate-trained, neutered, great in cars, perfect on a leash, and even sleeps through the night, on top of a fantastic demeanor for a young, dapper, light- to medium-energy family dog… he’s as polite as he is playful, and his adorable charm is off the charts. As we said: Bandit (our 10th foster) is absolute perfection. His only "beige flag" or doggo guilty pleasure? Bandit does occasionally like to dig... not to destroy, make a mess, or escape, but merely out of curiosity or for some good 'ol fun in the dirt.

Oli's adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in Oli, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved.

More about this rescue

RESCUEDohio was founded on August 1, 2015 by a group of dedicated animal lovers in the central Ohio area. The founders came from various different vocational backgrounds, but all have one thing in common: the passion to save dogs. Before starting RESCUEDohio, they were previously involved in different aspects of rescue, including fostering, fundraising, coordinating and training. The mission of this group is to help find homes for unwanted and abandoned dogs and to advocate for the rights of all animals everywhere.
