My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WHAT IS YOUR NAME?
Hello there! My name is Finn.

ARE YOU A GIRL OR A BOY?
I’m a handsome hunk of a boy.

HOW OLD ARE YOU?
I’m between three and four years old.

WHAT BREED ARE YOU?
I’m a Pit Bull Mix, although sometimes people mistake me for a bat because of my pointy ears.

HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH?
I’m clocking in at about 60 pounds of perfection!

WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE?
Well, everyone tells me how handsome I am, but I try not to let that get to my big head… I have a tricolor coat which means I have three different colors - trust me, I counted! I have cute light brown eyebrows which makes me look like I have puppy eyes all the time. And I have small white spots on my chest and on some of my toes, because I’m fancy like that!

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT?
I like to eat my adult dog kibble and treats! My favorites so far have been turkey, chicken, beef, greenies, pill pockets… Actually, I don’t think I’ve had a treat I don’t like. Sometimes my foster mom gives me frozen carrots, which I love very much. Maybe I’m a bunny and not a bat?

WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE?
A big one!! People always call me a “big boy,” but I don’t really believe them because I still try to fit into tiny spaces, like under the coffee table or between people’s legs. What can I say – I’m a snuggle bug that loves being with my people! I like to go where you go and if there’s a barrier between us, I might just let you know vocally how much I miss you.

Most of the day, I’m pretty relaxed and taking naps in the sun. I love to play and will never say no to a game of tug-o-war, ball catching (though I’m still learning to give the ball back), and just running around! When my humans have had enough, I’m very good at settling on my own with a chew toy and going to town on it until I get tired.

DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY:
My favorite part of each day is when my humans let me out of my crate in the morning because that means I get to be next to them. I go outside, smell the fresh air, go potty, and come back inside to eat my breakfast. Then I go find that perfect spot in the living room where the sun shines through the window and have my beauty nap. I typically like to nap… pretty much the entire day, but I’ll definitely wake up for some ball time, afternoon potty, and a walk! Sometimes my foster mom has adult friends over and I love love love meeting them! I haven’t met a big human that I don’t like. I wait patiently on my bed until my foster mom says “OK” and then I go say hi, give them kisses, and get all the pets and belly rubs. It’s the best feeling in the world!
When my foster dad comes home in the evening, I get a burst of energy and bring out all my toys to chew on. I’ll have my dinner and continue playing until I get tired. I snuggle with my humans on the couch until it’s time to go to bed. Then I get to do it all over again the next day!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY?
THE BALL! Once you have that orange Chuckit ball in your hand, you have my full and undivided attention. I can sit and wait at a designated spot until you release me with “OK” and throw it! I am very speedy when it comes to chasing and getting the ball. Inside the house, I like all of my hard chew toys. I like to pick one out of my toy basket and sploot near my humans while I chew on them.

DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS?
Yes! I know how to sit, down, wait, and be released with “OK.” I also know how to play the “Find it” game! Currently, I am learning “paw”.

WHAT SCARES YOU?
Being alone. It will take me a little bit of time to learn your house, your schedule, and that I am safe in your family before I feel comfortable being by myself. When I’m scared, I let you know by being vocal. Sometimes unexpected loud noises and doorbell sounds scare me; the latter makes me feel silly because behind the door is usually an adult person - who I’d love to meet!

HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? DO YOU LIKE THEM?
I need to be in an adult-only home.

DO YOU LIKE CATS?
No cats please.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS?
I’m very curious about other dogs and could do well meeting them, as long as we do slow introductions and they have neutral personalities.

IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE?
Laying on the couch, cuddling next to you. I genuinely mean that!

HOW IS YOUR HEALTH?
Never been better! I had a scary start when the rescue first found me. I had a broken femur from being hit by a car, though it never broke my spirit. The amazing folks at NorCal Bully Breed Rescue and UC Davis gave me the life-saving surgery I needed, and I spent lots of time recovering at my foster home. Now you would never even know that I had a broken leg if it weren’t for the scar (which I proudly wear like a badge of honor…I am a strong, brave boy who came back from an injury like a champ!!)

WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION?
I live with my foster mom and dad. It is hard to choose who I’m closer to… I spend a lot of time with my foster mom, but I get jolts of energy when my foster dad comes home because that means it’s play time!

WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE?
I stay in my crate with my soft blankie and a chew toy. Although I usually just sleep the entire time.

WHERE DO YOU SLEEP?
During the day? Anywhere and everywhere. My favorite spot is the couch! At nighttime, I am asked to sleep in my crate when my humans go to bed. It was lonely at first while I was learning to feel safe in the home, but now I know it’s just for the night and I get to see everyone again in the morning.

DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH?
Sure do! I’m very good about staying by my human’s side - my foster parents didn’t even have to teach me! Did I mention I am a very good boy! The BEST!

DO YOU HAVE ANY "NOT-SO-GREAT" HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? FOR INSTANCE, DO YOU BARK OR DIG IN THE YARD?
Though I am quiet 90 percent of the time, I am vocal about my feelings! That usually happens when I get scared from seeing someone outside, don’t like being alone, or when the doorbell rings (my foster mom is training me through this!).

ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED? (MEANING DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)
Yes, I do great once I learn the rules of the house. When I’m in a new house, it can take me some time to learn when and where it is appropriate to go potty. Please be patient with me while you teach me!

DO YOU LIKE WATER?
To drink, absolutely. To bathe in, I will tolerate it. I LOVE the kiddie pool in the backyard! It is so much fun to play around in the water!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY?
I love that they let me cuddle on top of them! But I’m also happy that they taught me patience, structure, and how to play safely – all the things that will let me continue living my best life with my future family.

WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUE?
Well, no one quite knows, but some kind strangers brought me into a shelter. They found me with a broken femur from being hit by a car. But I never let that injury stop me from being my goofy self because I came in with my tail wagging and a big smile on my face! I have loved every big human I’ve met so far and I can’t wait to meet my future forever family and love on them, too. Maybe YOU are meant to be my forever family and will take me home with you? I would really love to meet you! I promise, you will love me so much and I will be the happiest, cuddliest, most amazing boy for you if you give me a chance.
