My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mary Jane is a spayed cattle dog mix. She’s 3-4 years old, 40 lbs.
She’s grown up with kids but is territorial in and around their home towards other people and kids. Outside her own neighborhood she’s shy and needs some time to warm up to new dogs and people. She’s nervous but interested in other dogs. She chases cats.
MJ is obedient, smart, food-motivated, and great with her family and kids.
Owners have tried a dog trainer but simply don’t have the time to devote to exposure and advanced training. She goes to the dog sitters homes and after a 15 minute warmup period does well with other dogs. If you’re interested in a fun little dog that needs her own person, please fill out an application at sccpets.com (at no cost or obligation to you). Her adoption donation is $200.November 5, 2024, 12:47 pm

More about this rescue

Founded in 1993, Second Chance Companions is a 501(c) 3 non-profit pet organization dedicated to helping animals in SW Washington and the Portland Metro area.

We are a humane, no-kill organization staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers.

Although we do not run an independent shelter, we feed, care for, adopt out, and spay & neuter as many animals as possible. In addition, we educate the community and are always seeking volunteers and resources that help us to accomplish our mission.

We have a small number of foster homes available, but also work with private owners who keep their pets while looking for homes for them.
