Every once in awhile you come across a dog with the wisdom of the ages - - a wise old soul that you wish could tell you the story of where she's been and what what she's seen. When Piper's family was moving, they packed up all their belongings, put them in the car and drove away leaving Piper behind, as simple as that. Piper sat on the front step like a good girl patiently waiting for them to return, day after day, as though she had faith they would come back to get her. But of course they never did. The neighbors fed her until one finally called, and we were able to take her to the shelter we like to call the "Group Home" where she quickly became the shelter director's favorite.

How someone could let a girl go, who this magnificent, is shocking. Piper is that one-in-a-million soulful girl who loves people and is welcomed by other dogs. She's calm and well-mannered, affectionate and very even-tempered, highly intelligent and always kind. She's happy to play with anyone who invites her - - human or canine -- but she is fine on her own if you're too busy. Piper just never wants to be a bother to anyone. She truly appreciates human kindness, as though she thinks it's her fault her lousy family left her behind. And she's absolutely beautiful inside and out: loving, patient, a true jewel. The shelter director calls her an "A+ dog", an honor bestowed on only the greatest of the great.

We think Piper is between 3 - 4 years old, she weighs about 60 pounds, and she's a very healthy girl. We're not sure what her true mix is, but she is one of the most beautiful and gentle girls you'll ever see -- she just wants to be loved. If you promise to appreciate Piper as much as she'll appreciate you, please visit www.pinkshelter.org for more information about the adoption process or click here for our online application. Full vetting and spay included in her $550 adoption fee. Transport fee is additional $145. IF YOU HAVE AOL or YAHOO PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM FILE FOR OUR RESPONSE
