Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Pork Chop's Rescue Journey:
In rescue you get the call for assistance in many ways.......... We have a sweet friend with a heart of gold that works for a veterinarian in a rural area where help is needed for abandoned, neglected and overpopulated animals. She saw an abandoned dog on FB, knew this little guy needed help, and picked him up from the kind people that took him off the street! This Chihuahua was literally thrown out of the window of a pickup truck and the truck kept driving. Found animals can get bounced around and end up in the wrong hands or turned back out onto the streets so getting the dog "safe" was an urgent need.
Our vet tech kept the dog with her for a week before we could get a 10 hour day for travel free in our schedule. She took him, (which she named Pork Chop) to work, he was the client greeter and treated him to a pup cup; he was adjusting well to kind people!
His condition wasn't the best from his previous owner. He was missing hair in his rear end area, even his tail was sparse with fur! Most likely from fleas but he was also riddled with tapeworm and parasites. His vet exam also showed bilateral luxating patellas. Our vet put the kneecaps back in place and we spent some time evaluating him for possible surgery. He gets regular walks to strengthen his muscles which he loves! His condition is doing well, he jumps, hops, walks, runs, and climbs hills with no problems so we are not opting for surgical intervention at this time.
Pork Chop loves to be around his people! He adores attention and pets. He also loves to go for walks. He does great on a leash, loves to roll in the grass and does want to chase the occasional bird that gets too close. He does well with other dogs of all sizes and has been around cats with no bother. He acts like a bully behind his crate door to people he doesn't know but he probably has not ever been confined and this is trainable. Pork Chop is building his confidence daily and is learning that humans can be great comfort. He's a very sweet dog, is about 6 years of age, male and his breed is Chihuahua! Let's create the perfect ending for Pork Chop's rescue journey - his very own family!
