My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meow! My name is Angel. I love to have conversations with you, I’m very vocal. I am a nice kitty who just wants a forever companion. I am kinda a diva so I’d prefer to be the center of attention. I do occasionally give little nibbles but that’s just to show you how much love you! I have been at the shelter most of my life and would love a home to call my own. Please come visit me at the Crystal Lake Petsmart.

Call Assisi at 815-455-9411 or send us a fb message to schedule a meet n greet.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

We have many dogs and cats to meet at our shelter by calling us at (815) 455-9411.

We also have cats available for adoption at both Petsmart & Petco locations, on Route 14, in Crystal Lake, IL. You can meet them anytime during their business hours.

More about this rescue

Founded in 1985, Assisi Animal Foundation is a 501 C-3 not-for-profit corporation and McHenry County, Illinois' first and longest running no-kill animal shelter.

We are dedicated to providing shelter, care and re-homing of animals to caring, permanent homes. We abide by a no-kill policy, which allows for euthanasia only in cases of terminal illness which cause suffering, severe not repairable injuries, or in cases of such severe aggression that it is a threat to other shelter residents and caregivers.

We are also dedicated to educating the public on animal welfare, preservation and protection, providing a pet therapy program to nursing centers and providing a continuing care program for dogs and cats.

Unfortunately, our space and resources are not infinite. We operate on an appointment basis, to be sure that someone knowledgeable about the animals is on hand to serve adopters or visitors.
