Hi! I'm Paul! I'd love to me you but I'm a little shy so please give me some grace as I am a skittish boy at first.
We are unsure why Paul is so fearful, but he is a gentle and sweet boy who just needs someone to have patience with him as he becomes more comfortable with the world.
Paul was transferred from to us from another rescue back in April and would love to find a family of his own. Be sure to check out the videos in his story on Facebook!
Here is what his foster family says about him:
We have been fostering Paul for a little over 2 months now. Knowing that he needed time to get acclimated upon arrival, we set up a safe space for him to observe his new surroundings. We spent one on one time with him for him to get to know us. He met his foster siblings which includes male and female dogs, 2 younger teens, and a foster mom and dad. We simply took it slow with him and understood that it was going to take some time for him to feel comfortable.
Fast forward to today, 2 months later, where he has come out of his shell so much. He initiates play with his foster brothers, plays with toys, asks to be pet (he loves being pet), and cuddles with you. He likes his food, treats, a car ride with his nose out the window, a quiet corner, and being brushed. We are still working with him on walking short distances as the souds of the world can scare him. He has learned a routine very quickly. He knows how to sit and shake for a treat. He is still nervous around new people coming into the house and may retreat to a bedroom or a couch, where he feels safe. But, with his immediate family, he feels comfortable. At times, he still jumps at sudden sounds, movement, or loud noises but seems to have become acclimated to the sounds of his home environment, even the loud noises teens make :) He sleeps in a cage by our bed at night. Initially, he would sometimes whine to go outside in the middle of the night and on other nights, he wouldn't. I then came to the conclusion that when he saw his foster bother come into the room, he wanted to be out of the cage and with him. As with any new dog, it is trial and error. At first, he did not like being outside for longer than to eliminate. Now, he spends just a little more time outside with his foster siblings.
I am very proud of Paul and the progress he has made in just 2 months. Everyday he surprises me with something new he overcomes. He will need a patient and compassionate family. Another dog in the house to show him the ropes would be a bonus! A calm environment for Paul is ideal but has shown that he can live in a louder environment. Paul is so very deserving of a wonderful family. Are you that family?
Paul was transferred to us from another rescue after his adopter needed to surrender him due to moving.
Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events!
We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently.
