Many people love to spend time at the ocean. Meet OUR Ocean, who would LOVE to spend lots of time with YOU! Ocean is an 11-month-old Shepherd blend who weighs 33 lbs. He is sure to bring lots of love and excitement into your life as his motto is “Seas the Day”.
- General Behavior: Ocean’s foster describes him as a loving, spunky and playful pup. He’s curious, has lots of energy and some anxiety at times. His goal in life is to be everyone’s best friend.
- Likes & Dislikes: Ocean LOVES lots of playtime and adores positive attention. Got ice cubes? He’s your fella, as he enjoys entertaining himself and others with something as simple as an ice cube. Ocean does not like being left alone and he does show some anxiety when he knows his foster is going to leave. His new family will need to continue working with him and be patient as he learns that you will be coming back. That being said, he would be best suited in a home where his family is home more often than not.
- Training: Ocean is a smart boy, a good listener and has good basic manners. He even went to an obedience training program at 6 months old. With a consistent owner (along with his love for food/treats), we feel he will do great with any additional training. He has done very well on car rides, walks well on a leash, and does great with housetraining when left out on a regular and consistent schedule. Because of his curiosity, he does like to put his front paws on people and kitchen counters and snag food if left out. His foster is working with him on this behavior and his new family will need to reinforce and be consistent with positive training for this behavior. Remember . . . he loves positive attention (and treats), so training should be something that is fun for him.
- Medical: Ocean is a healthy boy and will only require his monthly heartworm and flea preventative.
- Other Animals: Ocean loves playful pups so another dog to romp around with would be awesome for Ocean. We believe he would be ok with cats too, as he has tried to play with his foster cats, but they had a little “cattitude” and didn’t want to play with him.
- Children: Ocean has been around children of all ages and families at the park and has done very well with them.
- Home: Because of his quickness in moving, his energy and love for running and playing, a single-family home with a fenced yard would be best for Ocean. In his foster home, he has not been left more than a couple of hours at a time and has done well in a secure area of the house. He just asks for a fresh bowl of water and his chew/teething toys. After a hard day of play, Ocean is comfortable calling it a night in his own space, but his preference is to sleep in the “human bed” where he can have sweet dreams of playing again the next day.
- Overall: All in all, Ocean is a fun-loving and sweet pup who would thrive in a home filled with love, affection, and positive attention. He would “fur-ever” be thankful to love and be loved in return.
