My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement to coordinate an in person meet and greet or a video chat. f you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************

We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.

Howie, 2.5 years old, neutered male, Labrador Retriever mix, 45 pounds. Howie moved from Texas to a foster home in NORMANDY PARK, WA and is ready for meet and greets!

Howie was saved from euthanasia at a rural animal shelter northeast of Houston with his friend, Fawn, who we also took into the rescue. Cleveland, where they were saved, is notorious for its stray and loose animal population, and a general disregard and neglect for animals.

Howie is a dashing young man - outgoing and friendly, gregarious and affable, with a funny, sunshine-y spirit. He has been around lots of other dogs and done really well. He keeps a loose body posture and enjoys running around exploring with his friends. He shares a home with several other dogs and has met other dogs from outside homes. He is always very friendly!

His foster mom always tells us how loving and playful he is. He likes to be near people, touching them if possible. Snuggling might be his favorite pastime. He is food motivated and is eager to please, making him easy to train.

Howie has been around kids mostly over age 9y with success. He loves attention and pets. We always recommend a home with children understand and will respect animal behavior cues. We have no history with cats.

He settles down quietly at night on his cozy bed in the kitchen. He doesn't seem to have any separation anxiety at all. He loves to go on walks and is very inquisitive about all the new surroundings. He is looking for a moderate energy home who will provide enough outlets for his energy- walks, trails, time playing in a yard or with another dog.

He is housebroken and crate trained. He walks well on leash and has really loved his PNW walking adventures. Howie loves a good toy - bones and stuffies are his favorite! He has not shown any issues with sharing or playing nicely. He enjoys giving and receiving affection, and especially loves kisses. <3

While we will never know the exact details of his past, we can be sure of what his future holds - all the love and affection a boy can give! Howie's ideal home would be moderately active: walks/hikes, play dates or doggy day care, training, and joining along for fun excursions like dog-friendly breweries, restaurants and coffee shops.

***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
