Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rambo is a sweet and handsome boy, who is a little bit lost right now. He recently lost the only home he ever knew because of his owner's health issues. Rambo's previous owner was mostly house-bound, which meant that Rambo always had human company, and that Rambo has experienced very little of the world. Despite his life undergoing dramatic changes, Rambo has been adapting well. He is occasionally nervous, but he is always gentle, and is usually curious and friendly. He is enjoying meeting new dogs and people, going on walks, and exploring the world. He is now ready to find his forever home.
At approximately 11 years old Rambo is still very active, and he is generally healthy. As expected, because he is a Cocker Spaniel, he has environmental allergies, presenting as skin and ear infections, however they have responded well to treatment so far. Rambo also has early stages of heart disease, but an echocardiogram has confirmed that he does not need medication at this time. Because of Rambo’s health issues, we are looking for an adopter with an extensive previous veterinary record.
Rambo has had complete bloodwork, heartworm and tick disease testing, fecal testing, neutering, and his complete series of distemper, rabies, and bordetella vaccines, and microchip will be included in his adoption. Although he is house trained, he was only recently neutered and therefore often marks in the house. He has been wearing belly bands, and tolerates them well, which solves the problem.
Rambo is good with other dogs and cats, but can be an only pet. Rambo has not been tested with children. Rambo does have separation anxiety, so needs an owner who is retired or works from home, or a good doggy buddy to keep him company. He would love a fenced in yard to explore, but that is not a requirement. Rambo is generally a relaxed, calm boy, and he would love a relaxed retirement home.
